The RRSC Basketball Academy is a training program designed to help athletes develop new skills and improve playing abilities. Participants are evaluated during the first class, then split into skill- and age-appropriate training groups to maximize effectiveness. Through drills and small-sided scrimmages, your athlete will develop, improve and advance, while working and training with experienced coaching staff.
Areas of focus include Agility and Footwork, Ball Control, Shooting, Post Play, Attacking, Defense, Rebounding and Teamwork.
The Novice Program is designed for players with less than two years of recreational basketball experience who would benefit from additional training. Recommended age for the Novice program is 8-12 years old. We strive to have no more than 10 players per coach for our Novice Program.
Our Girls Program is a novice training program designed for female athletes who have had less than three years of Recreational playing experience and would benefit from additional training. Recommended age for the Girls Program is 9-13 years old.
Our Intermediate Program is designed for young athletes with 2+ years of Recreational playing experience or players transitioning to Select or School teams that play competitively. This program will refine and improve skills with the end goal of preparing the participants for Select or School team tryouts/teams after a couple of seasons in the program. Recommended age for the Intermediate Program is 9-13 years old.
Our Tryout Prep/Advanced Program is designed for young athletes, in grades 7-9, who plan to try out for their school teams in November. This program will teach participants how to push themselves to the next level through individual drills, scrimmages, and 'chalk talk' covering in-game scenarios, tactics, and strategies. Participants will also benefit from offensive and defensive team drills to compliment the individual skills training they receive.
*Added to the Tryout Prep Program this fall will be Academy Game Days. Three Fridays this fall, participants in the Tryout Prep classes will arrive at the Sports Center to participate in full court, five-on-five games. These contests will help each athlete better apply the individual and team skills they have developed, compete in a team setting and equip each participant with a more thorough understanding of a game day environment. Please note Friday Game Day times will be different than regular Tryout Prep Academy training time.
