Basketball

The Round Rock Sports Center offers basketball training programs and camps for children 7-17 years of age and for all skill levels. New programs are added as needed, and are offered year round so your athlete can continually advance their game. The programs are designed to measure skills and improve performance of the participants over a 8-10 week period. Our programs and camps are coached by Coach Carlos Tosado. MEET OUR COACH: Carlos Tosado

SPECIALTY: Basketball Skills Training

Carlos Tosado has been the Head Coach of the Round Rock Sports Center Basketball Academy programs since 2015. Before joining the Sports Center team, Carlos played professional basketball in Puerto Rico, then served in the United States Army for 12 years. In the Army, Coach Carlos learned the value of discipline, dedication and teamwork. Since his Army service, Coach Carlos has spent more than 20 years focused on coaching youth basketball, hoping to not only help young athletes improve their basketball skills, but also pass along important life values. We’re very excited to have someone like Coach Carlos on our coaching staff!

    Tuesdays; January 12 – March 9; 5:30-6:30pm (9 training sessions)

    Cost: $199

    Your athlete will develop, improve, and advance while working and training with experienced coaching staff. Each athlete will develop new skills and improve their playing ability through drill work along with small-sided scrimmages to help players better understand the concepts that they are taught each week.

    Our Rookie curriculum is designed for children ages 11-15 who are new to basketball or have played on a recreational team previously and would benefit from additional training.

    Participants will be evaluated during the first class and then split into skill & age-appropriate training groups to maximize effectiveness.  Coaches may also recommend that your child move to a different class if it is a better fit for them.

    Areas of Focus
    : Footwork, Ball control, and handling, Attacking, Defense (Positioning and Awareness), Teamwork

    Classes average 20 athletes.

    Small-Group Basketball Training is an extension of the RRSC Basketball Academy consisting of fewer participants in each class (max of 8 athletes).  In this program, participants will benefit from a high volume of skill repetition and more one-on-one instruction to maximize the effectiveness of the training for each athlete.

    Our Jr. Rookie curriculum is designed for children ages 7-10 who are new to basketball or have played on a recreational team previously and would benefit from additional training.

    Areas of Focus: Footwork, Ball control, and handling, Attacking, Defense (Positioning and Awareness), Teamwork

    Your athlete will develop, improve, and advance while working and training with experienced coaching staff. Each athlete will develop new skills and improve their playing ability through drill work along with small-sided scrimmages to help players better understand the concepts that they are taught each week. This program has a max of 8 athletes.

    Our Developmental Training curriculum is is designed for young athletes who are capable of performing basic basketball skills (dribbling, shooting, passing) with little-to-no hesitation or trouble.  Generally, these are young athletes with several years of Recreational playing experience or are new to Select or School teams that play competitively.  This program will refine and improve skills with the end goal of preparing the participants for Select or School team tryouts/seasons after a couple of seasons in the program.

    The Developmental Training curriculum includes ‘Game Days’. Over three Fridays, athletes will arrive at the Sports Center to participate in full-court five-on-five games. These contests will help kids better apply the skills they have developed, compete in a team setting and equip each athlete with a more thorough understanding of a game-day environment. All three small group developmental classes will form the 3 teams for game day.

    Participants will be evaluated during the first class and then split into skill & age-appropriate training groups to maximize effectiveness.  Coaches may also recommend that your child move to a different class if it is a better fit for the participant.
