Basketball

The Round Rock Sports Center offers basketball training programs and camps for children 7-17 years of age and for all skill levels. New programs are added as needed, and are offered year round so your athlete can continually advance their game. The programs are designed to measure skills and improve performance of the participants over a 8-10 week period.     RRSC Basketball Academy – Jr. Rookie ($199)
    Tuesdays; June 9 – August 11; 5:30-6:30p

    Your athlete will develop, improve, and advance while working and training with experienced coaching staff. Each athlete will develop new skills and improve their playing ability through drill work along with small-sided scrimmages to help players better understand the concepts that they are taught each week.

    Our Jr. Rookie curriculum is designed for children ages 7-10 who are new to basketball or have played on a recreational team previously and would benefit from additional training.

    Participants will be evaluated during the first class and then split into skill & age-appropriate training groups to maximize effectiveness.  Coaches may also recommend that your child move to a different class if it is a better fit for them.

    Areas of Focus
    : Footwork, Ball control, and handling, Attacking, Defense (Positioning and Awareness), Teamwork

    Fridays; June 26, July 17, July 31, August 14; 6:30-8:30p (Times will be finalized once training begins)

    Your athlete will develop, improve, and advance while working and training with experienced coaching staff.  Each athlete will develop new skills and improve their playing ability through drill work along with small-sided scrimmages to help players better understand the concepts that they are taught each week.

    Our Developmental Training curriculum is is designed for young athletes who are capable of performing basic basketball skills (dribbling, shooting, passing) with little-to-no hesitation or trouble.  Generally, these are young athletes with several years of Recreational playing experience or are new to Select or School teams that play competitively.  This program will refine and improve skills with the end goal of preparing the participants for Select or School team tryouts/seasons after a couple of seasons in the program.

    The Developmental Training curriculum includes ‘Game Days’. Over three Fridays, athletes will arrive at the Sports Center to participate in full-court five-on-five games for an hour each night. These contests will help kids better apply the skills they have developed, compete in a team setting and equip each athlete with a more thorough understanding of a game-day environment.

    Participants will be evaluated during the first class and then split into skill & age-appropriate training groups to maximize effectiveness.  Coaches may also recommend that your child move to a different class if it is a better fit for the participant.

    Small-Group Basketball Training is an extension of the RRSC Basketball Academy consisting of fewer participants in each class.  In this program, participants will benefit from a high volume of skill repetition and more one-on-one instruction to maximize the effectiveness of the training for each athlete.

    Participants will be evaluated during the first class and then split into skill & age-appropriate training groups to maximize effectiveness.  Coaches may also recommend that your child move to a different class if it is a better fit for the participant.
